Build a LinkedIn Profile That Works for Your Career

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional networking platform, used by people to build professional relationships, discover career opportunities, and share industry knowledge. As of 2025, LinkedIn has more than 1.1 billion members worldwide, making it one of the most powerful platforms for professional visibility.

LinkedIn was launched in 2003 in California. In its early years, the platform was mainly known as a job-search website, where people created online CVs and applied for open positions.

Over time, however, LinkedIn has evolved into something much bigger. Today it functions as a global professional ecosystem where people can network, learn, share ideas, build credibility, and grow their careers.

While job postings and job applications remain an important part of the platform, LinkedIn is no longer only about looking for work. It has become a place where professionals can:

  • Build and maintain a professional network
  • Share knowledge and industry insights
  • Demonstrate their expertise and experience
  • Follow companies and stay updated on industry trends
  • Build a personal professional brand

Because LinkedIn is such a large and active platform, your profile does not simply sit in a static CV database. Instead, it becomes part of a living professional network.

This means your profile can be discovered not only by recruiters, but also by:

  • Hiring managers
  • Potential clients
  • Industry peers
  • Future collaborators
  • Journalists and event organizers

In many cases, LinkedIn is also the first result that appears when someone searches your name on Google. This makes your LinkedIn profile one of the most important elements of your professional online presence.

For this reason, having a clear, well-structured, and optimized LinkedIn profile is no longer optional. It has become a key professional asset that can influence how others perceive your expertise and career potential.
